A phone call in the afternoon was all it took to land myself in Sydney for Fashion Exposed 2010. The lovely Carol at TCFWA made it all happen for 6 emerging Labels to be showcased at Fashion Exposed – a world renowned trade show packed with clothing, shoes, bags and accessory labels, everything your little heart desires.
I met some awesome people from the other labels showcased – Jacinta Catherine, JuJu Imports, Enviart, Eco Peco & Wrapture – check them out, some great pieces by some great people.
All in all a great weekend was had, lots of networking and exposure for east of grey. And you will soon find east of grey in a new boutique. Watch this space!

So it’s been a while, sorry to keep you waiting, but did you see me in The Bulletin? east of grey is hitting the road, touring around the country, cruising past a town near you. So I need your help! If you love east of grey and have a favourite boutique you always shop in, please tell me where it is. I need to find all of your cool little boutiques so I can bring the joy of east of grey into everyone’s life. Also I haven’t decided my route yet so any tips on places to visit, sights to see, events not to be missed would be much appreciated.
Check out the story from The Bulletin below.

Memories of Queensland Summer – an art installation at The Tribune, Brisbane, showcasing each designer’s memories. I put together a hanging mobile with objects from my childhood and teenage years, all things which remind me of Summer in Queensland. Take a look…opening night.

The Tribune: noun
1. A boutique.
2. Located at 164b Arthur St Fortitude Valley, Brisbane.
3. Stocks luxury labels by such names as Balenciaga, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Yves Saint Laurent.
4. Stocks emerging designers labels by the likes of east of grey, Tia Carrigan, Skirts Like These, Zemelita and many more.
Sally and I did some shopping in Brisbane the other day and we took lots of photos inside The Tribune, what an amazing boutique, concept and people. Memories of Queensland is their newest concept, an exhibition by the boutiques’ emerging designers reflecting on their memories of a Queensland summer. I will be putting together a small piece of artwork and it will be situated upstairs in the window – the best spot I reckon…..make sure to pop in after the 11 August to check out the exhibition.
So here are some photos of The Tribune and east of grey garments instore.

It’s just the best, I sit at my machine and create, not a flat drawing, not a computer generated image, but a 3-d form, fabric and thread, can you believe these two things come together to create something you adorn your body with? Oh how clever we are to have invented all these machines!
So I am sewing some new Ballerina on Horseback pieces, I am halfway through 3 Francois Camis, 2 Cinicelli Camis and 3 Dibdin Dresses – they are coming along fabulously, and they are for the web shop so keep your eyes out and get in before they go. Remember all items are one-off so once they sell you will never see it again!
Check out the pics I took with my new amazing camera….

My first day off in 7 days, finally I can sew some Winter stock for Design A Space (Chapel St, Melbourne), sorry guys, I have been neglecting you! I have cut out some cool cardi designs, blue stripes, navy stripes, red knit, mauve knit – I hope you will be liking them! I woke up this morning and turned on my computer (the procrastination begins haha) and lo and behold I had an email from my contact us page on the website, I LOVE these emails, it’s such a surprise, who is it going to be? Well it was Kerryn from The Gold Coast Bulletin (the local paper) and they are running a story on vintage fashion and want to run a spread on east of grey – wow, I am so STOKED right now. It will be in the Coast Confidential section so look out for it, I will have exact dates for you later.
So now I best stop procrastinating and sew these cardis…..
