We set out on the open road, in cars, I wish we had horses!  Camera – check, Hair – check, Makeup – check, Garments – check, off to the old world. The new collection, inspired by the old days, the simple things in life; bring that life back…….I say it’ll only happen if east of grey takes you there.

I put the word out…we gathered at my studio to pick out our outfits, after a lot of wardrobe changes and snapshots, the final decisions were made.  We were going to the GOMA, dressed in east of grey and ready to be blown away by the wonder that is Valentino.

Words cannot describe what I was seeing or feeling that Friday night, pure awe.  I stood there gazing at the creations of Valentino and his highly skilled team, I think about the people who hand sewed for hours to create these pieces of art.  Not just art, but collectors items, these pieces are so old, yet in perfect condition…I imagine they have been well looked after, but you can tell they are very high quality, made with love, the artisianship sparkles, timeless, pure skill, you don’t throw these pieces away, we come together and gaze in wonder at them.

Heaps has been goin on in east of grey land, an editorial in the latest Peppermint Magazine, a new stockist in Wangaratta – Born Screaming…and keep your eyes out for east of grey coming soon to Shepparton. So, we have been sewing, sewing, sewing to ensure all the gypsys are styling this Summer in east of grey.

Mercedes Benz Fashion Festival = fun, fast-paced, minimal sleep, gorgeous fashion, Schwarzkopf, Napoleon Perdis, models, designers, media, Mercedes Benz courtesy cars, wrap party for my birthday…weren’t they lovely, oh, and new friends.

What a week! A few pics for you..xo.

Sydney called me back into his arms. So I went!

Hothouse Symposium – 2 days of information overload, it is still slowly sinking in. Creative problem solving is the future….

My third day was to relax….haha, just kidding. Instead, I trekked around the City, Surry Hills and Darlinghurst, then finally to Newtown looking for potential stockists…I found three really cool stores, one is in The Strand, oh I love it! One is in Darlinghurst and the other is in Newtown. Cross your fingers they want east of grey.

The real reason I went to Sydney was the last thing on the schedule, and what a way to end the trip, with a catwalk show. Exchange for Change was it’s name and sustainability was it’s game. An event run by Oxfam, and sponsored by Peppermint Mag (oh, did I mention this is my favourite magazine?), put 6 labels in the spotlight. It was great to see other labels who support sustainability, the environment and basically, humanity. So I might be going to Bangladesh!!!

Finished the week off at a warehouse party in Waterloo. Bands, BBQ, drinks and cool people in the rain, what a week! Lovin it!

east of grey crew clocked on at 5am yesterday to prepare for the ‘Ballerina on Horseback’ location shoot…..at the circus. Lennon Bros. kindly let us loose on their grounds – we met Cruise the pony, had some fun, that’s for sure…..Adam Weathered clicked some magic with his camera!  Check out the pics, not retouched yet…

The Oneway Project, as part of The Surfers Paradise Festival, saw Surfers transform into an underground hive of live music and live art. 2 stages pumping out original tunes all day, alleyway artists and their spray cans, market stalls filled with original and vintage designs certainly brought out the rad in Gold Coast. east of grey was there mingling, meeting new people and catching up with old people, friends that is, not ‘old’ people. A great day was had and one lucky gypsy walked away with their own special one-off east of grey Paris Dress, yes, I gave it to her, for nothing in return, oh, she has to wear it, that’s all.

I love to make people smile. Doesn’t Elizabeth look awesome!

So, east of grey will be at the Latino Bazaar at The Swingin Safari on June 20 1pm…come play dress ups with me!

Thanks to Adam Weathered for his amazing photography, Corey Moon for styling & hair and make up, Ashlee Fowler for modeling and Lauryn Lakay for modeling and backstage photography.  What a full on day, styling from 12 till 5, SO should have done this the week before, hair and make up from 5 till 7, shooting from 7 till 9.30.  A whirlwind of fashion, flashes, hairspray, steam and a great big fan set us in motion to create the looks you see below.

A phone call in the afternoon was all it took to land myself in Sydney for Fashion Exposed 2010. The lovely Carol at TCFWA made it all happen for 6 emerging Labels to be showcased at Fashion Exposed – a world renowned trade show packed with clothing, shoes, bags and accessory labels, everything your little heart desires.
I met some awesome people from the other labels showcased – Jacinta Catherine, JuJu Imports, Enviart, Eco Peco & Wrapture – check them out, some great pieces by some great people.
All in all a great weekend was had, lots of networking and exposure for east of grey. And you will soon find east of grey in a new boutique. Watch this space!
